the wonder of Thank You…..

“I gave one of your blueberry muffins to my colleague, and he liked it a lot. He felt that it tasted so much better than the ones from Starbucks. When I told him that it is vegan, his jaw dropped. He kept saying that I am so lucky to have freshly baked muffins in the morning!”

“Dear, you know I am not very good with words right? Though I have not said it before, I appreciate you waking up early to make me breakfast. I like your healthy muffins and buttermilk pancakes best. Thank you very much!”  This time my jaw dropped…. Why? David is an introvert who seldom (or should I say never) articulate his feelings, and does not have the habit of saying thank you. Guess it is the way Asian men are brought up, they take their “please” and “thank you-s” for granted.

His thank you made my day……it felt so good to be appreciated, especially by your loved ones.

Due to the many unforgettable experiences that I encountered in the process of growing up, especially during my student years, I learnt (the hard way) to appreciate all the little things in my life plus the people around me. I never fail to stop and count my blessings and thank God for everything……..

I am a firm believer of thank you………. and its powers for creating happiness! I have been teaching my girls to say their thank you-s since young and am happy that I have succeeded. Hopefully their daddy will be more comfortable saying it, and we will be hearing more thank you-s from him soon.

Sometimes, a mere thank you just wasn’t enough for certain special people in our lifes. They needed something more (my opinion), something extra-special………….Su-Yin, the latest cake wizard in town who happens to be my favourite, came up with some awesome edible delights to convey David and my thank you…..

Tagged… out of a rut?

I was tagged (my first) by Emily of Mimosa’s Diary, a timely one to get me out of my rut. Yeah, I was stuck in a “sticky rut” for the past 2 weeks. Not sure whether you guys have similar experiences, but at times, I just simply get into this mode of “couldn’t care less about what is happening around me” and will be in my pyjamas for the entire day, drag my feet around the house and lie lateral on my bed while channel surfing! A typical temperamental Pisces?

Here are 7 random facts about me;

  1. I am a hyper-active, need to be outdoors, and always on the go person, who is forced to be a stay-at-home-mum. My other half is convinced this caused my “sticky rut”.
  2. I get bored easily with “motherly activities” like coffee mornings, and much prefer to spend time with, actually can’t live without, my Macbook, PSP and Wii Sport.
  3. I decided to take up baking last year after I stumbled onto Florence’s awesome blog, with her original, tried and tested recipes. Her failproof recipes gave me the confidence to bake, and the chance to enjoy myself doing it. If you have not visited her blog, go on, hop over now.
  4. Cooking is my latest hobby – initially as a catalyst to improve my eating habits, but I am hooked to it now. I have been cooking 5 days a weeks for the past month, the only activity during my “rut period”. Simply amazing by my standards! Hats off to my mentors.
  5. I bought Veganomicon,  under Liz’s influence, tried a couple of its recipes and liked them alot. Now my family is worried sick that I would force them to be a vegan. Haha!
  6. I celebrated my 11th Wedding Anniversary this year with a sensitive and loving man who “eats and sleep” the stock market, so much so that my girls learnt about the Dow Jones Indices even before they could talk!
  7. My two girls are world apart in terms of character, elder one an introvert and brainy, while the younger one an extrovert and artsy just like me.

I am quite sure that while I was stuck in my rut, all the blogs that I visit regularly (the best of the best) would have completed this tag. Thus I will not be passing this to anyone else.
