After 11 years…..

When my hubby asked me to marry him many, many years ago, I told him, “I will marry you provided you do not force me to cook. I do not know how to cook and have no interest to learn.” He assured me that it will not be an issue for him, and he kept to his word. He has never complained that for the past 11 years, we have been eating out most days of the week, and on those rare days that I cook, it would be dumping everything into the slow cooker type of soup, pasta with bottled sauce or instant noodles with sunny side up. It was not an issue with the girls too because they are the milk and toast type of breakfast person, and lunch plus tea is served in school (they attend a day school). I am only required to “scramble” for their dinner. Lousy wife and mother, huh?

Not sure whether it is due to some hormonal imbalance or the awesome pictures posted on the many talented foodie blogs, I had this urge to learn how cook! When I announced to my family 3 weeks ago, about my plans to pick up cooking seriously, so that I can cook dinner during week day nights, both my daughters stared at me in disbelief, and my dear hubby asked me whether I was ill. When they realised that I was serious, all three of them looked a little worried….. fear of the unknown I think. I don’t blame them cos I can be quite a klutz where cooking is concerned.
