My hubby has been clocking crazy hours at work recently, most of the time right through the weekends too. Understandably, he is too tired to spend any quality time with me, when he is back from work. Most nights are spent with him snoring at the sofa, while I catch the latest episodes of the Hong Kong serials, and during the weekends he will be catching-up on his sleep. Who could blame him, right?
I was surprised when he arranged for lunch today. It has been a long time since we went out for a decent meal, where we could sit and chat, and not in the hurry to either pick the girls from school or their extra-curricular activities. He took me to my favourite “Dim Sum” restaurant in KL – Luk Yu Tea House at Starhill Galery. This tea house is a little pricey, but I love the place for its wide range of chinese tea, and the fact that it is pork free. Yeah, I am one of those weird chinese that never acquired the taste of pork, I simply dislike the smell and its after taste.
If you are like me (do not fancy pork), the dim sum here is a must try – the cook does a great job in making it flavourful and juicy, without “the real thing”. For those who can’t stand the idea of eating chicken dim sum, go for the seafood dishes and dim sum – they are really good! The “Har Kow” (prawn dumpling) is simply yummy delicious, to die for. Its twice the normal size, and each has two very fresh prawns in them.
Every time I dine here, I have a difficult time deciding on the chinese tea. It serves the classic ones like 0 oolong, jasmine, lung jing and pu er, as well combos like ginseng oolong, marigold jasmine, lily jasmine, etc. My favourites are; osmanthus jasmine tea, ah li san, high mountain ti kuan yin and silver needle jasmine tea.

My hubby and I had such a good time during lunch, finally some quality time together without the girls. We promised ourselves to make an effort to do this more often, hopefully at least once a week. When we were about the leave, my hubby told me that he very proud that I am doing something about my eating habit, and reminded me Day One is going to be difficult, but it will get better. I was shocked!! He actually remembered (despite being so busy) that today, is the start date of my healthy eating journey. In his own ways, he will always show that he cares for me greatly. All the struggles that I had finishing up my breakfast was worth it!
