Even though I am a stay home mum, I am just not a stay home person. If it is not because of my obligations as a mother, I would anytime prefer to have a full-time job. It is so much more me – challenging, stimulating and fulfilling.
Since I quit full-time employment, reluctantly, about six years ago, I have always kept myself busy – started running 10km weekly, picked up baking, fell in love with mountain climbing and scuba diving, ecetera. After all these years, I still have not acquired the housewifey stay home qualities yet, I am just too active for all those mummies coffee mornings, and afternoon tea plus lots of bitching. During my kids’ school term, I start my day (after seeing them off to school) with bikram’s yoga and an hour of jogging. After that I would hit the malls, window shopping and actually purchasing whenever I could convince myself to do so. Surfing at Starbucks is another of my favourite activity. Honestly, I am bored stiff with my daily schedule, it’s so no brainer……..Guess, I would need to endure it till my kids are older, hopefully another five more years, then I will be set free………free to go for more scuba diving and other adventure related trips.
Things changed lately, I found a new playground, a new hangout…………. at home………huh?……… in my kitchen……………huh?…………….. busy preparing meals for my family.
Me, staying a home, out of choice? Unbelievable!! Yes, it is true, I am spending my afternoons at home now, enjoying myself in my kitchen with my new found friends…………. the pots and pans, knives and chopping board, sugar and spices, ecetera, ecetera. Not sure how long this will last but I am having very good time in my kitchen.
Even my dining table is happier, its being used more often……….
